When a common We emerges from many perspectives
The exhibition Connecting Values – Art from I to We transforms the Freising City Library into an open space for art, democracy, and cultural education. Children, students, and adults present collages and canvases created in value workshops led by the artist and art therapist Marian Kretschmer.
Democratic values become visible
The displayed works translate freedom, responsibility, respect, community, and active participation into color, form, and composition. Each collage and each canvas preserves a personal touch and simultaneously points to the binding power of the shared artistic process.
From I to We
At the center is the question of how individual perspectives can find a common stance. Layers, color fields, breaks, and personal symbols open up spaces for open thinking and imagery. The examination of the works makes it tangible how art touches societal issues and conveys cultural education sensually.
Collage, painting, and international perspectives
The results of the workshops are complemented by works by Marian Kretschmer, created during his work in schools in Tanzania. His long-standing collaboration with the association Marafiki wa Afrika expands the exhibition into an intercultural experiential space. Art here appears as a medium of encounter and understanding.
The city library as a cultural venue
With its combination of reading culture, education, and exchange, the Freising City Library offers a fitting framework. The quiet exhibition atmosphere invites focused contemplation of the works. Visitors experience art amid books, public discussions, and societal reflection.
Visitor information
The exhibition is open from September 8 to October 17, 2026. It can be visited during the opening hours of the city library: Tuesday from 10 AM to 7 PM, Wednesday to Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM, and Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM. On Friday, October 2, the library will be open until 8:30 PM as part of the Long Night of Democracy. Admission is free.
Conclusion: Art as an invitation to think together
Connecting Values – Art from I to We integrates aesthetic experience with democratic responsibility. The exhibition shows how many individual voices can create a shared visual dialogue. Anyone seeking cultural education, socially engaged contemporary art, and an inspiring art experience should definitely visit this presentation live at the Freising City Library.
