When a common We emerges from many perspectives
The exhibition Connecting Values – Art from the I to the We transforms the Freising City Library into an open space for art, democracy, and cultural education. Children, students, and adults showcase collages and canvases created in value workshops led by artist and art therapist Marian Kretschmer.
Democratic values become visible
The displayed works translate community, responsibility, respect, and participation into color, form, and composition. Each piece bears its own signature while also existing within a larger context: from individual I perspectives emerges a polyphonic image of the common We.
Collage, Painting, and Aesthetic Experience
In the examination of the works, different materials, image ideas, and forms of expression come together. Collages connect individual fragments to new contexts of meaning, while canvases transform personal perceptions into a concentrated visual language. The atmosphere of the exhibition invites visitors to attentively absorb details, color effects, and compositions.
Marian Kretschmer and the Art of Encounter
Marian Kretschmer works as a freelance artist, illustrator, and art therapist. He studied at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig and is known for large-format acrylic painting with a realistic approach. His artistic practice revolves around encounter, respect, self-confidence, and community. Since 2016, he has also worked artistically with students in Tanzania.
An International Perspective from Tanzania
The results of the workshops are complemented by works created during Kretschmer's work in schools in Tanzania. The long-standing collaboration with the association Marafiki wa Afrika adds an intercultural dimension to the local exhibition context. Art appears here as a bridge between different life worlds and as an impulse for dialogue, solidarity, and cultural education.
The City Library as a Cultural Meeting Place
Between books, images, and public encounters, space is created for concentrated examination of the works, conversation, and personal reflection. The exhibition is aimed at art enthusiasts, families, school classes, and anyone interested in exploring societal questions through a sensuous aesthetic experience. Visits are possible during the regular opening hours of the city library.
Conclusion: Democracy as an Artistic Experience
Connecting Values – Art from the I to the We brings together personal expressiveness, social responsibility, and artistic education. Visitors can expect an accessible, visually striking exhibition featuring collages, paintings, and international perspectives. Anyone wanting to experience how art creates a common resonance space from many individual voices should definitely visit this exhibition at the Freising City Library live.
