I Feel Good Here! Discover Freising through Photographic Views
Where do people in Freising find peace, strength, and personal well-being? The exhibition on the photography competition of vhs Freising addresses this simple yet deeply personal question. From October 16 to November 19, 2026, the Volkshochschule presents selected photographs on the screen in front of its building in Kammergasse.
Photography as an Expression of Well-Being
The focus is on places where people can breathe easy, draw new energy, and be truly themselves. The photographic works connect individual perception with cultural education and address the United Nations' sustainability goal of health and well-being. From personal sources of strength, a multifaceted portrait of the city emerges.
Dialogue between Isar, Nature, and Urban Landscape
Many submissions focus on the Isar and its shores. Water, green spaces, and tranquil landscapes appear as visual sources of power, whose effect is made tangible through light, color, perspective, and cropping. The architecture of Freising also gains a new aesthetic presence in the photographs. Familiar places suddenly seem foreign, poetic, or particularly intense.
Award-Winning Photographic Perspectives
The first prize was awarded to Christa Hutflesz for her view from Domberg onto the city. Stephan Wittmann impressed with a glimpse into a personal garden paradise, and Manfred Gerber with the portrait of a Süntel beech on Schlangenweg. Other awarded works come from Sebastian Beier, Christine Moratz, and Josef Westermeier. The presentation is complemented by photographs from Brigitte Hensel, Monika Kleber, Hugo Fritzsch, Isabelle Mansouri, and Rajath Vaidhish.
Viewing Art in Public Space
The presentation offers an immediate viewing of the works outside of the classic museum space. The changing images on the screen in front of the vhs turn everyday life into an exhibition space and invite viewers to perceive their surroundings with a sharpened photographic gaze. This creates a unique exhibition atmosphere between urban landscape, nature experience, and personal memory.
Conclusion: An Art Experience about the Good Places in Life
The exhibition makes visible what people associate with a good life and transforms personal impressions into a shared cultural experience. Art enthusiasts discover Freising from new perspectives and experience how photography interlinks health, well-being, and a sense of home. A visit enriches the aesthetic experience and opens a mindful view of familiar places.
