I'm doing well here! Discovering Freising through personal views

Where do people in Freising find peace, strength, and well-being? The exhibition on the photo competition of vhs Freising addresses this simple yet deeply personal question. From October 16 to November 19, 2026, the Volkshochschule presents the best submissions on the screen in front of their building at Kammergasse 12.

Photography as an expression of health and well-being

The focus is on photographic views of places where people can breathe, recharge their energy, and be fully themselves. vhs Freising connects the competition with the United Nations' sustainability goal of health and well-being. Thus, a local photo initiative becomes an inspiring project of cultural education.

Isar, nature, and urban landscape in photographic dialogue

Many submissions focus on the Isar and its banks. Water, green spaces, and tranquil landscapes appear as visual sources of strength. The architecture of Freising also plays an important role: familiar places gain a new aesthetic presence through light, perspective, and framing.

Award-winning images and personal perspectives

The first prize went to Christa Hutflesz for her view from Domberg over the city. Stephan Wittmann impressed with insight into a personal garden paradise, and Manfred Gerber with the portrait of a Süntel beech tree on Schlangenweg. Other award-winning works are by Sebastian Beier, Christine Moratz, and Josef Westermeier. The presentation is complemented by photographs from Brigitte Hensel, Monika Kleber, Hugo Fritzsch, Isabelle Mansouri, and Rajath Vaidhish.

Artwork observation in public space

The exhibition opens immediate artwork observation: colors, shapes, light, and spatial effects can be newly interpreted in the interplay of everyday life and memory. The exhibition atmosphere is created not in a closed museum space but in the visible surroundings of vhs. This proximity makes the art experience accessible and vibrant.

Conclusion: Seeing Freising with new eyes

The exhibition shows how diverse personal ideas of a good life can be. Art enthusiasts encounter a multi-voiced photographic view of Freising and may rediscover familiar places. A visit promises an inspiring aesthetic experience between local connection, nature perception, and cultural education.
