Where Freising Takes a Breath: Discovering Photographic Places of Well-Being
The exhibition I'm Doing Well Here! presents the best submissions from the photo competition of vhs Freising. The focus is on personal places where people find peace, recharge, and be completely themselves. From October 16 to November 19, 2026, vhs Freising will display the photographs on a screen in front of their building at Kammergasse 12.
Photography as an Expression of Health and Well-Being
The exhibition connects photography, cultural education, and the sustainability goal of health and well-being of the United Nations. From individual perceptions emerges a multifaceted visual story about Freising: nature, water, architecture, and private retreats become visual expressions of personal quality of life.
Isar, Nature, and Cityscape in Photographic Dialogue
Many photographs focus on the Isar and its banks. Water, green spaces, and quiet landscapes appear calm, profound, and full of life. The architecture of Freising also gains a new aesthetic presence through conscious perspectives, light, and framing. The examination of the works draws attention to familiar places that can easily be overlooked in everyday life.
Award-Winning Photographic Perspectives
The first prize was awarded to Christa Hutflesz for her view from Domberg over the city. Stephan Wittmann impressed with insight into a personal garden paradise, Manfred Gerber with the portrait of a Süntel beech at Schlangenweg. Sebastian Beier depicts water as a source of life. Christine Moratz and Josef Westermeier share fourth place with a representation of a special badminton match.
The presentation is complemented by photographs from Brigitte Hensel, Monika Kleber, Hugo Fritzsch, Isabelle Mansouri, and Rajath Vaidhish. Together, the works create a sensitive panorama of local connection and individual perception.
Viewing Works in Public Space
The exhibition atmosphere is not created in a closed gallery space but in the public space in front of the vhs building. The digital screen makes the works visible in the city's daily life and invites viewers to experience Freising with a more attentive eye. Colors, shapes, light, and spatial effects become starting points for an immediate aesthetic experience.
Conclusion: Seeing Freising with New Eyes
I'm Doing Well Here! makes visible what people associate with health, well-being, and home. Art enthusiasts encounter a personal photographic inventory of Freising and may rediscover their own power spots. Those who appreciate local photography, cultural education, and poetic everyday observations should visit this inspiring art experience live in the urban space.
