Discover Freising through personal eyes
Where do people find peace, strength, and new energy? The exhibition I'm Doing Well Here! presents the best entries from the vhs Freising photography competition and focuses on personal sources of strength in the city. From October 16 to November 19, 2026, the photographs will be displayed on the screen in front of the vhs building at Kammergasse 12.
Photography as an expression of health and well-being
The photographic works showcase places where people can breathe, recharge, and be fully present. vhs Freising connects the project with the United Nations sustainability goal for health and well-being. Individual perceptions create a multifaceted contribution to cultural education and aesthetic experience in daily life.
Isar, nature, and urban scenery in photographic dialogue
Many submissions focus on the Isar and its banks. Water, green spaces, and tranquil landscapes appear as visual sources of power: calm, profound, green, and full of life. The architecture of Freising also gains a new presence through conscious perspectives, light direction, and image compositions. Photography makes familiar places visible as atmospheric spaces for relaxation.
Award-winning photographic perspectives
The first prize was awarded to Christa Hutflesz for her view from the Domberg onto the city. Stephan Wittmann impressed with an insight into a personal garden paradise, and Manfred Gerber with a portrait of a Süntel beech tree on Schlangenweg. Sebastian Beier highlights water as a source of life. Christine Moratz and Josef Westermeier share fourth place with a unique badminton match.
The presentation is complemented by photographs from Brigitte Hensel, Monika Kleber, Hugo Fritzsch, Isabelle Mansouri, and Rajath Vaidhish. The different visual languages connect local ties, nature perception, and personal memory.
Art observation in public space
The exhibition atmosphere is created not in a closed museum room but in the public space in front of the vhs building. On the digital screen, colors, shapes, light, and image composition relate to daily life. This special presentation form invites viewers to walk familiar paths with a more attentive gaze and to perceive their environment anew.
Conclusion: An art experience about the good places in life
I'm Doing Well Here! makes visible how diverse people experience health, well-being, and home. Art enthusiasts encounter a sensitive photographic snapshot of Freising and may re-discover their own power places. Those who appreciate local photography, cultural education, and inspiring art observation should experience this exhibition live in the urban space.
