MAOTIK: Random Blooms – When Movement Makes Digital Flowers Ring
In the Schafhof – European Art Forum Upper Bavaria, MAOTIK transforms the historical barrel vault into an immersive art space of light, sound, and movement. The interactive installation Bloom combines contemporary media art, generative design, and physical interaction into an art experience that only comes to life through the presence of the audience.
An Audiovisual Installation as a Living System
The observation of the work begins with one's own presence. Using Lidar technology, Bloom captures the movements and gestures of the visitors. From hand movements and body impulses, glowing digital flowers, abstract shapes, and a sound composition grow that changes in real time. Each interaction creates a new audiovisual constellation – a fleeting unique piece that will not repeat itself exactly a second time.
Generative Art Between Nature and Technology
MAOTIK translates natural growth processes into a digital image architecture. Organic forms, algorithmic structures, and electronic sounds merge into a contemporary art movement at the intersection of installation, media art, and experimental sound art. Chance does not appear as a disturbance but as a creative principle: forms emerge, dissolve, and return in altered shapes.

MAOTIK and Digital Contemporary Art
Behind the artist name MAOTIK is the French digital artist Mathieu Le Sourd. His artistic practice includes immersive environments, interactive installations, and audiovisual performances. He studied Digital Media Production at the London College of Communication and completed a master's degree in Digital Arts at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. His works have been presented at Mutek, Sonar, Art Basel, Frieze London, Ars Electronica, and the Venice Biennale, among others.

The exhibition is part of the annual theme Play and Chance of the Schafhof. A public exhibition tour by Artists in Motion and Random Blooms will take place on October 3, 2026, at 4 PM.
