When digital blooms respond to movement
In the historic barrel vault of the Schafhof – European Art Forum Upper Bavaria – MAOTIK's installation Bloom transforms the exhibition space into an immersive landscape of light, sound, and movement. The exhibition Random Blooms invites visitors to not only observe generative art but to bring it forth immediately through their own presence.
A real-time artwork exploration
The interactive installation reacts using Lidar technology to gestures and movements of the audience. Digital flowers, flowing shapes, and audiovisual structures arise from bodily impulses. At the same time, a sound composition forms that changes with each action. No interaction is the same as the previous one – each aesthetic experience remains unique.
Generative art between nature, sound, and algorithm
Mathieu Le Sourd, known by the artist name MAOTIK, works at the intersection of art, science, and technology. His immersive environments, audiovisual sculptures, and interactive installations translate the essence of natural processes into digital visual spaces. Chance is understood not as a disturbance but as a creative principle.
In Bloom, parametric image and sound architecture combine with a flowing spatial effect. Light, color, movement, and sound create a holistic experience that shifts the boundaries between painting, installation, and digital media art. The visitors become active participants in the curation: Their movements directly influence what becomes visible and audible in the space.
Art experience in the barrel vault
The unique atmosphere of the historic barrel vault enhances the immersive character of the work. Digital flowers appear, spread out, and trigger new sound reactions. The exploration of the work becomes physical and sensual: The personal viewpoint, a hand movement, or a step alters the composition.
MAOTIK studied Digital Media Production at the London College of Communication and obtained a Master's degree in Digital Arts from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. His artistic practice employs specially developed software, algorithms, and data to transform perception in real-time and open up new forms of cultural education.
Free entry and accessible
The exhibition will be on view from September 19 to November 29, 2026. In November, the hours are Wednesday to Saturday from 2 PM to 6 PM and on Sundays and public holidays from 10 AM to 6 PM. Admission to the exhibition and accompanying programs is free. The exhibition halls and the café are accessible without steps.
Conclusion: An exhibition that only comes to life through its visitors
MAOTIK: Random Blooms promises an extraordinary art experience for all who wish to connect interactive media art, generative design, and sensory artwork exploration. Anyone wanting to experience how light, sound, algorithms, and movement merge into a unique audiovisual sculpture should definitely visit the exhibition live at Schafhof Freising.
