MAOTIK: Random Blossoms – When digital flowers respond to movement
In the historic brick vault of the Schafhof – European Art Forum Upper Bavaria – the exhibition space transforms into an immersive landscape of light, sound, and motion. The exhibition Random Blossoms presents an interactive installation called Bloom by the French digital artist Mathieu Le Sourd, known as MAOTIK.
An installation that involves the audience
The experience begins with one's own presence. Using Lidar technology, Bloom captures the movements and gestures of visitors. Hand movements and body impulses create glowing digital flowers, abstract shapes, and a sound composition that changes in real-time. Each interaction generates a new constellation of color, light, form, and sound.
Generative art between nature and technology
MAOTIK translates natural growth processes into a digital visual architecture. Organic forms meet algorithmic systems, while electronic sounds expand the visual dynamics. Chance does not appear as a disruption but as a creative principle. The artwork consists not only of a fixed object but also of a responsive system that continuously emerges through movement, data, and perception.
Immersive exhibition atmosphere in the vault
In the vaulted space, Bloom unfolds a special spatial effect. Light projections spread out, digital flowers emerge from gestures, and sound accompanies every change. The boundaries between viewers, installation, and exhibition space become permeable. Thus, MAOTIK connects contemporary media art with questions of the human-technology relationship and opens immediate access to cultural education.
An art experience that is new with every visit
Mathieu Le Sourd, who works under the name MAOTIK, is a French digital artist whose practice lies at the intersection of art, science, and technology. His immersive environments, audiovisual sculptures, and interactive installations combine generative design, sound, algorithms, and data. The aesthetic experience of Random Blossoms is therefore unique: no movement is repeated exactly, no digital flower appears twice in the same way.
Admission to the exhibition and accompanying programs is free. The exhibition spaces and cafe are accessible without steps. Random Blossoms will be on display at the Schafhof from September 19 to November 29, 2026; in November, the opening hours are from 2 PM to 6 PM from Wednesday to Saturday, and from 10 AM to 6 PM on Sundays and public holidays.
Conclusion
MAOTIK: Random Blossoms promises an extraordinary art experience for all who want to connect interactive media art, generative design, and sensory contemplation. Anyone wishing to experience light, sound, and movement as creative forces should definitely visit the Schafhof in Freising live. Only through one's own presence can the digital flowers arise and make each aesthetic experience unmistakable.
