MAOTIK: Random Blossoms – When digital flowers respond to movement
In the historic barrel vault of Schafhof – European Art Forum Upper Bavaria – the exhibition space transforms into an immersive landscape of light, sound, and movement. The exhibition Random Blossoms presents an interactive installation called Bloom by the French digital artist Mathieu Le Sourd, known as MAOTIK.
An exploration of work through light, sound, and movement
The aesthetic experience begins with one's own presence. Using Lidar technology, Bloom captures the movements and gestures of the audience. From hand movements and body impulses, luminous digital flowers, abstract forms, and a sound composition emerge that changes in real time.
Every interaction generates a new constellation of color, light, shape, and sound. The installation never appears completely identical and makes visitors the initiators of an open, generative composition. Chance is understood not as a disturbance but as a creative principle.
Generative art between nature and technology
MAOTIK operates at the intersection of art, science, and technology. His immersive environments combine audiovisual sculpture, algorithms, data, and electronic sound design. In Bloom, the idea of natural blooming translates into a digital architecture whose forms respond to human movement.
The work exemplifies a contemporary art direction in which the artwork does not appear as a static object but as a responsive system. Sensors, programming, and artistic curation combine to create a sensually experienceable art experience. The exhibition thus opens an immediate access to media art and cultural education.
Immersive exhibition atmosphere at Schafhof
In the barrel vault, Bloom unfolds a special spatial effect. Light projections, digital flowers, and sound merge into an atmospheric installation. The boundaries between viewers, artwork, and exhibition space become permeable, while every gesture creates a new audiovisual situation.
The exhibition invites reflection on perception, authorship, human-machine interaction, and the role of chance in creative processes. Especially the immediate participation makes the exploration of the work a unique aesthetic experience for art enthusiasts, families, and curious visitors.
Opening hours and accessibility
The exhibition can be seen from September 19 to November 29, 2026. In November, Schafhof opens from Wednesday to Saturday from 14:00 to 18:00, as well as on Sundays and holidays from 10:00 to 18:00. The exhibition spaces and the café are accessible without steps. Admission to the exhibition and accompanying programs is free.
Conclusion: Letting digital nature emerge on its own
MAOTIK: Random Blossoms connects generative art, sound, light, and movement into an art experience that is only completed by the presence of the audience. Those who want to experience contemporary media art not just visually, but physically and sensually, should visit this exhibition at Schafhof live. Every encounter with Bloom creates a new, distinctive aesthetic experience.
