With Clay, Imagination, and Light in the Footsteps of Our Ancestors
On All Saints' Day, the Diocesan Museum Freising invites families to a special creative experience. In the workshop A Light for Our Ancestors, children will create their own flower out of clay to be used as a candle holder while discovering how remembering, creating, and learning together are interconnected.
Creative Learning Fun with Your Own Hands
Shaping clay with hands, crafting petals, and creating a small memento: In the open DIMU workshop, children experience art directly. Under the guidance of MaJo Gomez, an individual object will be made to take home.
Child-Friendly Discovery of All Saints' Day
The workshop embraces a familiar tradition: On All Saints' Day, many people decorate the graves of their ancestors with flowers and candles. Children gain an age-appropriate access to themes of memory, family, and togetherness. The crafting makes history and religious tradition tangible and creatively accessible.
Family Time at the Diocesan Museum Freising
The open workshop combines child development, creative activity, and shared time. While shaping and decorating, fine motor skills, concentration, and personal expression are encouraged. At the same time, a peaceful family experience arises with children's laughter, curiosity, and visible pride in their self-created work.
Safe and Personal Guidance
The open workshop takes place in the rooms of the museum education and DIMU workshop. Up to ten people can be supervised at the same time per session. Children may be assisted by an adult. Participation is open to all age groups; family participation is particularly encouraged.
Conclusion: A Bright Memento for Home
This children's workshop offers families a creative break and connects art, memory, and learning fun. Those who want to experience All Saints' Day in a practical and child-friendly way will shape a clay flower in DiMu, which later serves as a personal candle holder to remind them of shared time and their family history.
