Stories, experiments, and lots of curiosity in Freising
On the National Reading Day 2026, curiocity invites children and families to a special interactive reading at the Science Center Freising. On Friday, November 20th, Melanie Spornraft combines exciting stories with child-friendly experiments and shows how questions, ideas, and small mistakes lead to new insights.
Reading becomes a family experience
Melanie Spornraft, biologist and science communicator at curiocity, reads from the picture book What Do You Do with an Idea? by Kobi Yamada and Mörfi – The Fabulous Wrongdoer by Andreas Schlüter. The stories encourage children to remain curious, take their own ideas seriously, and simply try things out.
Astonishing, questioning, discovering for oneself
Suitable experiments make visible what lies within the stories: Curiosity leads to questions, questions lead to ideas, and from sometimes surprising results, fun learning emerges. Children experience scientific connections in an age-appropriate manner and with all their senses. This strengthens the joy of discovery and conveys a valuable learning experience without pressure to perform.
For kindergarten and elementary school children
The event is aimed at children in kindergarten and elementary school ages of about 5 to 9 years. No prior knowledge is required. The interactive reading lasts about 90 minutes and offers a child-friendly mix of listening, observing, questioning, and experimenting. Parents share an inspiring time filled with children's laughter, wonder, and a sense of community with their children.
Free admission and no registration required
Participation is free of charge. No registration is required. The reading takes place at the curiocity Science Center at Untere Hauptstraße 25 in Freising. The venue is a covered science center with interactive offerings for children, families, and curious people of all ages.
Conclusion: A reading that allows ideas to grow
This family event combines the fun of reading with science communication and encourages questioning, trying out, and further thinking. Families can look forward to a warm, curious atmosphere and many small Aha moments. Experience the National Reading Day live together and discover what can arise from a good idea.
