Research Within Reach in the Heart of Freising

What is being researched at the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University – and how does it relate to everyday life, the city, and the region? At University at Your Doorstep, research leaves the campus and becomes immediately tangible at the curiocity Pop-Up Science Center.

Peatlands, Climate, and Regional Habitats

On Tuesday, November 17, 2026, peatlands will be the focus. Workshops will address the significance of these unique habitats for climate, water balance, and biodiversity. The event combines scientific findings with issues that directly concern Freising and the surrounding area.

Science Made Understandable and Interactive

The action week focuses on experiments, discussions, lectures, games, and hands-on offerings. Rather than seeing research from a distance, visitors will discover connections themselves. The event atmosphere in the Pop-up Science Center allows for curious questions, personal encounters, and vivid science communication.

An Offer for School Classes, Families, and the Curious

The event planning targets different audiences: school classes will experience age-appropriate workshops, teachers will receive professional input, and adults can engage in conversations with researchers. Families and all interested individuals are also invited to learn about research in the areas of peatlands, sustainability, energy, water, food technology, trees, and wildlife.

University and City in Direct Exchange

The theme week is organized by Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University in collaboration with curiocity and other educational partners. The format demonstrates how modern event management and science communication reach people outside the university campus: openly, practically, and with close ties to the region.

Conclusion: Experience Science in Everyday Life

University at Your Doorstep brings research to where people live, learn, and work. Visitors can expect a free event experience with current topics, understandable explanations, and interactive stations. Anyone who wants to know how peatlands affect the climate and why regional research is important for Freising should experience this event on-site.
