Winter mix-up comedy with heart at the Asam Theater Freising
When the social roles in the Grand Hotel Bruckbeuren begin to slip, a lively game about being and seeming starts: The Laienbühne Freising e.V. presents Erich Kästner's witty novel Three Men in the Snow in the stage adaptation by Charles Lewinsky on the stage of the Asam Theater.
A Millionaire in Disguise
At the center of the comedy is a millionaire who disguises himself with a false name as an ordinary guest among the people. Together with his servant Johann, he wants to observe how people behave beyond etiquette, wealth, and social rank. His plan triggers a chain of turbulent misunderstandings.
Grand Hotel, Winter Sports, and Fine Social Satire
The production by Arnold Aschbauer leads into the glamorous world of ski tourism in 1930. Eager staff, international hotel guests, and the three title characters encounter each other in a theatrical world where external appearance and actual personality repeatedly fall apart. Kästner's humor combines comedic precision with a warm view of human weaknesses.
Friendship Across Class Boundaries
From the mix-up comedy evolves a tale of trust, humanity, and the power of true friendship. In the Grand Hotel Bruckbeuren, different worlds of life come together, while the direction makes the social contrasts visible with playful joy and affectionate exaggeration. The stage adaptation by Charles Lewinsky gives Kästner's novel a direct, lively dramaturgy.
A Stage Experience Full of Charm
The Asam Theater creates the perfect setting for a theater atmosphere between a winter hotel lobby, a fashionable winter sports resort, and a cheerful society game. Acting skills, comedic timing, and a pointed staging combine for an evening that aims for exuberant audience reactions as well as quiet emotional moments.
