breaking out
Breaking out is the joint exhibition of Hartmut Fenge and Elsa Nietmann, which will be on display from August 01 - 09, 2026, at the Old Prison Freising. Breaking out - a multifaceted term - such as breaking out of a closed space like our exhibition venue. But also breaking out in the sense of overcoming barriers during creative work. This means breaking out of routines, breaking out of the comfort zone, venturing into new territory, even if it brings a feeling of uncertainty or discomfort. Elsa Nietmann is a sculptor. In her sawn wooden sculptures, she deals with movement in the broadest sense. Based on her own body awareness and her work as a Feldenkrais educator, she seeks underlying structures that in their transformation lead to new creative forms. Hartmut Fenge operates as a painter in border areas. Formally between representational/non-representational, thematically it involves spatial transitions. Lines are traversed like surfaces in the broadest sense, whether in contour-focused drawings or color-reduced applications. Exhibition duration: August 01 - 09, 2026 Opening: Friday, July 31, 2026, 7 PM Opening hours: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 2 - 6 PM More info: Elsa Nietmann Sculpture & more www.elsanietmann.de Hartmut Fenge www.hartmutfenge.de
